The whole brief for the collection was one word: vibrant.
Twenty paintings for a resort in Belize, each one built around one animal, one feeling, one room at a time. Macaws leaning into each other. Jaguars moving through old stone and water. Whale sharks drifting like constellations. Rays flying through the reef. Hibiscus and heliconia in full bloom.
The palette was never planned. Magenta, teal, deep green, every blue at once. It is the palette of Belize itself, and it kept pulling at me until it became the collection.

The Story Behind The Belize Collection
For most of my career I painted one piece at a time. A subject would move me and I would follow it. Line my paintings up and you would think five different artists made them. Beautiful pieces, maybe, but not one world.
Then I said yes to painting the entire collection for a private island resort in Belize, and that freedom was no longer enough.
A collection is not a stack of paintings. Every piece has to speak to the others, so that walking from one room to the next feels like the same island told a different way.
I had never done anything like it. I said yes before I was ready, and I built the vision while the island itself was still becoming real.
The island changed the way I saw my art. The art changed the way I saw the island.
The Belize Collection is the result: twenty original oil paintings about wildlife, protection, romance, and the feeling of being wrapped in something wild and warm.
